Dear Wayland Community,

Our continued goal is to ensure that families do not experience extended wait times when accessing care through WSCP programs. For the current SY25-26 school year, we have reached full capacity across all sites.
That said, I want to highlight the intentional work happening to expand both childcare coverage and extended learning opportunities across the district.

We are proud to share that we have already increased capacity from the last school year, enrolling more than 77 additional students in November FY24-25. For the FY25-26 school year, all students on the Happy Hollow waitlist who were placed at the beginning of the school year at the BASE program, along with more than 35 students from the Claypit Hill and Loker waitlists, were served.

This progress is the direct result of strong collaboration with school administration, which has allowed us to expand into additional classroom spaces and strengthen our staffing capacity. Through these coordinated efforts, we were able to place 75% of incoming Kindergarten students who expressed interest in BASE. This outcome reflects the incredible work and commitment of the BASE staff team, alongside these strong partnerships, and marks an important step toward increasing access for families across the district.

Despite these efforts, Claypit Hill continues to have the largest waitlist. With our updated registration and lottery system, we are working to reduce how long families remain on the waitlist. However, due to high demand, not all students were selected in last year's lottery rounds.

I also wanted to share an update regarding middle school programming. We are continuously exploring the possibility of opening a BASE middle school site. This year, we expanded our enrichment offerings at the middle school level, including partnerships such as Code Ninjas, iCode, Livius Prep, and Right Brain Curriculum. At this time, enrollment has not yet reached the level needed to open a full BASE site at the middle school. However, we will continue to analyze interest and expand enrichment opportunities for middle school students in the upcoming school year.

For families who have not yet completed the interest form for FY26-27, we encourage you to do so using the link below for current 1st-5th graders. If you previously submitted a form for FY25-26, your information remains on file, and we will use the most recent information and remove duplicates for the lottery. Our goal is to maintain a responsive, rolling waitlist and avoid prolonged delays.

For New Families (Pre-School and Kindergarten):
After the current family registration period, available BASE placements for new families will be determined by lottery from submitted interest forms.
If you are new to BASE and would like to enroll your preschooler and/or kindergartener, please complete the appropriate interest form(s):
The waitlist must be completed by April 19 to be included in the first lottery round. Additional rounds will be conducted as needed, and the waitlist will close at the end of June.

Expanding Enrichment & Extended Learning

In addition to expanding access to care, we are continuing to grow our extended learning opportunities. This year, each WSCP site will offer both a standard 3:30 PM dismissal and an extended 4:30 PM option, providing families with more flexibility.
We are currently finalizing vendor partnerships for the 2026-2027 enrichment schedule, with a goal of releasing the full catalog by mid-June, ahead of the July 1 schedule change deadline.
At this time, Code Ninjas is open for registration:

Additional programs (including Global Child, iCode, and others) will be released as partnerships are confirmed. We will also continue to expand offerings, such as 4:30 PM options and multi-day enrichment opportunities.

Current Programs Open for Registration:
  • April Vacation Program
  • Summer Program
You can also explore all WSCP offerings and program information on the Wayland Public Schools website.

Thank you for your continued support as we work to expand access, strengthen programming, and better serve our community.
Warm regards,
Nayagara Viera
